Description

Aries shell was constructed in 2010, by XR&D, and she has been engineered and fitted by myself, with some joinery by Greg Birkett.
She is an 83% scale ‘representation’ of a ‘River Class’ Leeds Liverpool Short boat but with steel superstructure and modern facilities. There are berths for up to five.
She is gas free, with a Dickinson diesel cookstove and electric appliances (combination oven, induction hob, kettle etc.).
Heating is by Bubble (diesel) stove in the saloon, Refleks diesel stove in the crew cabin, Eberspacher boiler (to radiators and underfloor heating) and Braeaire electric heat pump when shoreline is available. Domestic hot water, via two separate calorifiers (one for the galley, one for the washbasin & shower) is heated by Eberspacher boiler or Braeaire electric heat pump as well as the engine.
The main (bedroom) cabin can be either 4ft double or two 2ft singles and has en suite access to the shower/toilet compartment. There is also a ‘crew’ cabin at the fore end with twin berths plus a make-up single berth (sofa bed) in the saloon.
