Lovely 60ft Narrowboat – Lady Dawn V

Description

After nearly 13 years aboard our lovely house boat, we are selling her. We have moved to another area and are hoping we can find someone who will love our boat as much as we have.

Lady Dawn V is a 60ft traditional narrowboat, which was built in 1995 by South West Durham Steelcraft.
In 2023 we had a cratch cover fitted by Kinver Canopies, this has added extra space/storage to the front of the boat which proved to be very valuable during the winter!

Lady Dawn has been fitted out throughout using pine tongue and groove. She has a large spacious saloon area and is heated by a solid fuel Torso Squirrel stove which has a back boiler. The back boiler is currently disconnected but all pipes are in place if the new owner would like to use it. There is a fold down table set in front of the window, fitted book shelves and room for a sofa. We also had a custom made fire guard fitted.

In the galley there is a side hatch which allows great views when cooking in the light and bright area. There is a 12v Fridgemaster fridge and gas hob and oven.

Leading on from the galley there is a cabin with a fixed double bed with storage cupboards at the end and shelving above the bed. There are also two large draws and storage space directly under the bed.

The bathroom is a walk through area, with a sink unit, porta potty and a 5ft bath with a shower over. We have loved using this spacious bathroom and feel it is a real feature of the boat, having a large bath has felt quite luxurious all these years.

Unusually a 4 Cylinder Nanni Diesel engine is housed in its own engine room. The engine room doubles as a workshop and again has a healthy amount of storage for tools, crafts or anything else that takes your fancy.
The engine has been boxed in but this can be removed if desired. In 2019 we had a 240v washing machine fitted.

The wall in the engine room helpfully houses all the electrical switches you need. Including a 1000W Sterling Power inverter, a Vitron energy battery charger, a Victron energy solar panel monitor, and all fuses and switches to control lights. For hot water, there is a really useful immersion timer and mains heater switch for when you are on landline power. Or when cruising the water is heated via running the engine, and held in the clarifier tank in the engine room.

We have found Lady Dawn to be set up really well for both cruising and shore line hook up as we also have 3 solar panels. So whether you’re cruising or on a permanent mooring, you’re all set.

Beyond the engine room lies the stern cabin. We have used this room for many things, including a music recording studio! But more recently it has been a second bedroom. There is a single bed frame with storage underneath but also space beside the bed for a crib if need be.

The steel thickness of Lady Dawn is 10/6/4
She was last blacked in 2021.
Every time we have had her blacked people have commented on how well the steel looks underneath. The steel has a primer of sorts on it which has been protecting the steel all these years.

Boat safety runs out in December 2024
New starter battery fitted in April 2024
She has 4 x leisure batteries.
